Jim Thorpe, PA

Sunset Bike
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the bike I want. I saw it today in Jim Thorpe, PA at a bike rental place. It was the colors of a sunset: pinks, yellows and oranges. It also had flowers on it. I have to own this bike. I sat across the street in a little park and painted it. I didn't get the colors quite right, because first cars kept driving by and blocking my view, and then they closed and took my bike inside. I think you get the idea though. Isn't see beautiful?

I also left this painting in the same park (The Mauch Chunk Train Station, Jim Thorpe, PA) for A2A:

New Buttons for Painting in the Park

I've created some buttons for Painting in the Park. If you would like to promote Painting in the Park, copy and paste the code, and stick it on your website. I would love it!

Oh, and just so you know, I will occasionally post a painting that I'm selling here, but that's not what Painting in the Park is about. It's about getting people outside to paint (to stop for a moment and to do something they enjoy)! It's a reminder to refuel!

Shower the World with Love, Kelly Gibbons, 2006

I painted at Frances Slocum State Park today for about two hours. A few people looked curious, but no one stopped. I didn't leave the painting I was working on, but I did leave the one I posted above for A2A. I hope someone finds it and reports in!

And, this is what I painted in the park today:

Painting at the Boardwalk

I painted these two mini paintings (bookmarks) while sitting on a wall at the Boardwalk (at 5th Street) at Ocean City, MD. I left them on benches, so I hope someone finds them and checks in. Leave a comment if you found them! Thanks.

Vacation Art

I'm headed to Ocean City, Maryland on vacation. I'm hoping to do some painting by the ocean, and I'm planning to leave some behind. Hopefully, people will find my mini paintings and check in!

Welcome to Painting in the Park

Painting in the Park, A Reminder to Refuel

Painting in the Park came about after spending a couple of hours painting in a local park, Kirby Park. I left small paintings behind, with little message written on the back ("have a nice day"). My hope was that someone would find them, and smile, and in some way have a better day because they found my little gift. I had such a good time painting there, I decided to do it more often, and the idea came about for this blog, Painting in the Park.

My original painting trip to Kirby Park was about refueling--getting out there and doing something I enjoyed, just for the sake of enjoying it. I want this blog to serve as a reminder to myself and others that everyone needs to stop, get outside, and refuel.

Goals:
Go to a park to paint. (Shoot for once a week)
Find different places to paint. (My favorite so far was on the wall at the beach, Ocean City, MD)
Leave mini paintings behind to share with strangers.
Encourage others to paint with me.
Encourage others to paint in parks and leave mini paintings behind.
Remind myself and others to refuel by getting outside and doing something they enjoy, like painting in the park.
